  • My name is Peter Joicey, Club Secretary of Old Boys Clapham FC. Our club is an amateur club that plays in the Surrey South East Combination FA League. Generally our players live in the Clapham, Wandsworth, Balham area of SW London. Our club plays football on Saturday afternoons and we have two sides. Our home ground for the 2012-13 season is Larkhall Park in Clapham/Stockwell and is easy to get to if you live in Central London. Currently we are interested in experienced full backs but all positions will be considered. New recruits considering joining the first team must have proven Senior or Intermediate standard experience. All other players without such experience will be considered for the Reserve side. Full bakcs are a current priority. Our first team will be playing Surrey South East Combination Intermediate Division Two after winning promotion from Junior Division One. Currently, the team won SSEC Division One. Our second league title in a row. Our first team won the Geoff Ellis Premier Shield on Wednesday 11 April 2012 with a 3-1 win over St. Andrews. Our first team made it a domestic treble after winning the Surrey FA County Cup on Friday 18 May 2012 with a 4-1 win over RH123. Our reserve team finished as Runners-Up in the Surrey South East Combination Division Three in 2011/12 season and will play in Division Two next season. During the season we train at Larkhall Park, 9pm-10pm on Thursday evenings but a Tuesday evening venue is currenly being sought. At training we do a mix of drills, fitness and football. Training during the summer months (17 May to 30 August 2012) and trials take place on Thursday evenings at Kennington Park near Oval from Thursday 17 May 2012, 8pm-10pm. Preseason friendlies commence Saturday 28 July 2012. The season starts properly on Saturday 08 September 2012. The club is well organised and won a League Club Secretary Award for the 2010-11 & 2011-12 seasons and also we have a vibrant social scene. The club travelled to Holland in June 2012 to play a Dutch team as part of our pre-season activities. We beat RSKV Dosr 3-1 despite having heavy hangovers from the previous night in Amsterdam. We aim to play a foreign team abroad each season. If you are interested in joining or would like more information please visit our club website at All players pay to play and club fees will apply if you meet the minimum required standard. If you are not able to commit for most weeks of the season between August 2012 to April 2013 then this may not be the club for you. Although the club is friendly and welcoming to newcomers, team selection is based on merit and character. Both teams are very good and competitive as a result. Players not demonstrating the required level of ability, commitment, respect for others or who does not pay club fees on time will not be considered.
